John Ratzenberger
Actor:  (House II: The Second Story , Motel Hell, Cliff Clavin - Cheers, the Voice of Pixar!)

John Ratzenberger is best known for playing mail carrier 'Cliff Calvin' on one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, "Cheers." He had read for the part of Norm Peterson, but after the audition, he could tell they weren't going to give him the part. Sensing an opportunity, he asked if they had written a “bar know-it-all”, which the producers decided was a great idea. Cliff became known for his outlandish stories of plausible half-truths, irrelevant trivia, and ignorant misinformation, and was known for being an overall pretentious blowhard.

Star Wars fans world wide know John for his role as ‘Major Derlin’ as seen in “Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back” and those same fans will recognize him from another huge franchise; “Superman 1 & 2”! Horror fans remember him from "House II" and "Motel Hell", films which are on the oposite side of the spectrum when it comes to what kids know him for today!

John’s popularity has crossed over from the sitcom, Sci-Fi and fantasy worlds into another huge demographic, being recognized by kids of all ages for his various roles in the Disney/Pixar animated films!  John is the only actor to voice a character in every single Pixar film ever made! A running “gag” that he and director John Lasseter decided on together. John never tells fans which character he voices, he was them to be surprised and figure it out for themselves when they see the film.

John can currently be heard in the new films “Coco” and "The Incredibles 2" and will be reprising his character’s role of Hamm for the highly anticipated film “Toy Story 4”!

Michael Berryman
Actor:  (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil's Rejects, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Weird Science, Star Trek IV)

Veteran actor and horror/sci-fi genre icon Michael Berryman is a native of Los Angeles, California. He was born prematurely with Hydrochrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia, a rare condition leaving him with no sweat glands, hair, fingernails or teeth. Michael's father was renowned neurosurgeon Sloan Berryman and his mother, Barbara, was a Registered Nurse. Michael as a young child had extensive cranial reconstruction at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. Michael took all these challenges and turned them into a golden career in film and television, thanks to legendary film director George Pal discovering Michael (who at the time owned and worked at a gift shop/art gallery in Venice, California.)

George Pal cast Michael in the Western DOC SAVAGE, then shortly after that Milos Forman cast Michael in the Academy Award winning film ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST.

Berryman went on to star as PLUTO in Wes Craven's cult classic THE HILLS HAVE EYES. Additionally, Berryman has appeared in such films as WEIRD SCIENCE, STAR TREK IV, ARMED RESPONSE, CUT AND RUN, SOLAR CRISIS, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, etc. He also has appeared in more main-stream roles, such as the comedy SPY HARD and family favorite SCOOBY DOO. Michael's many television credits include TALES FROM THE CRYPT and X FILES. Michael Berryman portrays a gamut of characters, ranging from evil, dangerous and creepy to wise, gentle, sage, mystical, whimsical, comedic and even angels. Michael is an adored favorite of horror and sci-fi movie fans worldwide.

Michael and his wife Patty own and run a farm in Northern California where he and his wife have walnut, apple, pear, cherry, persimmon and plum orchards, where they also raise their beloved horses. Michael enjoys baking fresh fruit pies.

Most recently, Michael stars with Edward Furlong in the feature film BELOW ZERO, as well as horror/ thrillers EREBUS, SELF STORAGE, starring opposite Eric Roberts, RED AND YELLA KILL A FELLA, ARMY OF THE DAMNED and the horror/comedy SMOTHERED. Michael will also star in the television series HELL HUNTERS (based on the popular comic book) as well as the series HELL’S KITTY.

Don Coscarelli
Industry Guest:  (Director: Phantasm, Beastmaster, Bubba Ho-Tep)

In much the same way that director George A. Romero creative output has been primarily centered around the highly successful "Dead" series of zombie films, then fellow fantasy director Don Coscarelli has for over two decades seen his universe swirling around the lesser successful, but equally cult, and much loved "Phantasm" series of horror movies.

Coscarelli was born in Tripoli in North Africa, but raised around Southern California, and was interested in the cinema from a young age and together with his friends they made several low budget movies that aired on community TV stations to very positive feedback.

After a low key start with his first feature film embracing the trials of a young teenager caught in a world of alcoholic abuse Jim, the World's Greatest (1976), Coscarelli followed this up with a lighter comedic tale about another youngster and his view of the world as an impressionable 12 year old in Kenny & Company (1976). However, the imaginative Coscarelli then really hit the (horror) big time with the 1979 release of the highly inventive fright thriller Phantasm (1979). Once again, a young boy is at the center of a spine-chilling story about a creepy funeral home, a sinister Tall Man (wonderful acting by Coscarelli's long time buddy Angus Scrimm), disappearing corpses, malignant dwarfs and a gateway into a hellish, other world dimension. Shot on a very modest budget, Phantasm (1979) was hotly received by horror fans worldwide, and the film has since spawned three sequels...each fairly decent in their own right! First up was the gorier Phantasm II (1988), followed by Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994), and the third sequel to date, Phantasm IV: Oblivion (1998). A fifth and final sequel titled "Phantasm's End" has been apparently discussed, but nothing further has yet eventuated on this project. As the Angus Scrimm is approaching his 80th birthday, Phantasm fans hope that the "Tall Man" will be there for the proposed final chapter of this thrilling saga of the Undead!

Apart from the "Phantasm" series, Coscarelli also wrote and directed the well received sword and sorcery film The Beastmaster (1982) starring athletic Marc Singer and the eye-catching Tanya Roberts being pursued by villainous high priest Rip Torn. And recently in 2002, Coscarelli cast horror & fantasy film screen hero Bruce Campbell in the highly off-beat Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) that depicts Elvis and John F. Kennedy hiding out in a Texas rest home where the residents are being attacked by a 3,000 year old cowboy boot wearing mummy trying to bring itself back to life! A strange script it may sound, but indie and horror film fans loved the unusual premise and quirky humor, and the film was a hot hit at several film festivals and has spawned a further cult following for Coscarelli and Campbell.

Coscarelli, similar to gifted fantasy directors such as Wes Craven, Sam Raimi and George A. Romero has carved himself a true cult niche in modern horror film history, and his loyal fans eagerly await his next project.

Caroline Williams
Actor:  (Stretch - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2, Dr. Maple - Halloween II, Loretta - Leprechaun 3)

Caroline Williams began her career in Texas, co-starring for revered cinema master Louis Malle in his Corpus Christi-based film, Alamo Bay (1985). She worked opposite stars Ed Harris and Amy Madigan in what was her first feature film, after only six months of training at the Studio For Actors, under the tutelage of Chris Wilson. She had established herself in the Texas movie marketplace doing commercials, industrial films and voiceover work. Following "Alamo Bay", she moved to Dallas and furthered her career, with co-stars, in The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) (dir. Matthew Robbins) and Getting Even (1986) (dir. Dwight Little). When Tobe Hooper and L.M. "Kit" Carson began casting for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 2 (1986), the sequel to Hooper's iconic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), they discovered the punkass actress, who ran screaming down the hallway of the casting office. She burst into the room, pulled the chairs from beneath the duo and played the brief dialogue, while huddled in a corner. In that often told moment, she won the role from 440 actresses from both coasts.

After the successful release of the film, she moved to Hollywood to continue her career in a mix of horror: Stepfather II (1989) (dir. Jeff Burr), Leprechaun 3 (1995) (dir. Brian Trenchard Smith) and mainstream films: Days of Thunder (1990) (dir. Tony Scott), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) (dir. Ron Howard). She continues to split her efforts between series TV guest star roles, such as Grey's Anatomy (2005) (dir. Debbie Allen) and The Mentalist (2008) (dir. Charles Beeson).  Has also appeared in Blood Feast, a remake of the revered original by Herschel Gordon Lewis, directed by Marcel Walz, Greenlight directed by Graham Denman, Verotika directed by rock/metal icon Glenn Danzig, Contracted directed by Eric England, Hatchet III, directed by Adam Green.

Luckily, her fan base enjoys her continuing dedication to the horror genre, and recent releases keep them well-satisfied. Linnea Quigley - Fantasm 2019

Clu Gulager
Actor:  (Burt - The Return of the Living Dead, Mr. Walsh - A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge)

Clu Gulager was born William Martin Gulager in Holdenville, Hughes County, Oklahoma. His nickname was given to him by his father for the clu-clu birds (known in English as martins, like his middle name) that were nesting at the Gulager home at the time Clu was born. He grew up on his uncle's ranch as a cowhand and when he was old enough he joined the United States Marine Corps for a stint from 1946-1948. He got the acting bug being in army plays so when he left he used the GI Bill of Rights to study acting. During this time he met his wife, actress Miriam Byrd Nethery. They had two children together - John, born in 1957, and Tom, born 1965. He was married over 50 years until his wife passed away in 2003 from cancer.

Clu's career started off as bit parts on popular western shows usually playing the heavy. Shows like Wanted Dead or Alive, Have Gun Will Travel, Laramie, Riverboat. He scored big with The Untouchables as Mad Dog Coll, which led to him being offered the role of Billy the Kid on The Tallman from 1960-1961, which also starred Barry Sullivan as Pat Garrett. The show was pulled after two seasons by Congress because they didn't like the idea that kids were seeing the outlaw Billy the Kid as a hero. Clu's next big break was playing Deputy Emmett Ryker on The Virginian from 1964-1968. During this time he also fared very well as Lee Marvin's sidekick in the 1964 TV film The Killers, which was considered too violent for TV so it went to theaters. Having being burned out being a TV star he tried to break into films, mostly as a character actor. His stand out films were The Last Picture Show (1971, playing Ellen Burstyn's lover), McQ (1974) with John Wayne and A Force of One (1979) with Chuck Norris, with whom he would work in the 1990's on Walker, Texas Ranger. Clu was also cast in San Francisco International Airport, with Lloyd Bridges, which failed big time.

Throughout the 70's and 80's he was in almost every show around, playing bit parts. Then the unthinkable happened: he found a second career as a horror film actor; he followed the footsteps of other TV actors who were stuck in TV hell, like his costar from The Virginian - Doug McClure - and Christopher George. Both of them in late 70's and early 80's found new careers in B movies and late night horror films. Clu finally got a lead part in Dan O' Bannon's cult classic The Return of the Living Dead (1985). He also was in A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) Throughout the 80's and 90's he would appear in TV and in the occasional horror flick. In 2005 he started acting in his son's horror films - the Feasts movies and Piranha DD in his 80's. He currently playing the Book Store Man in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood.

Not letting age get in his way, he has been a horror fan favorite and still shows up at conventions at almost 90 now. You can say one thing about Clu: what a diverse career it has been for this awesome cowboy!

Jesse Burks
Industry Guest:  (Director - One Please, Cured, That Unusual Brick, Odd Happenings in a Tiny Tent)

Director Jesse Burks is a practicing surgeon who fell in love with filmmaking, quite by accident, in 2011. His first three films: One Please, Cured, and That Unusual Brick currently have over 14 million views online in under 2 years.

In addition to being oddly weird stories, Jesse's films have no dialogue and rely heavily on sound, music, and photography as characters in their own right.

Besides having the pleasure to work with the legendary Michael Berryman on 3 of the 4 films, Jesse is known to badger close family members (wife, sons, nieces, etc.) to be in his films - which proved to be a wonderful stroke of luck - because their dedication, and undiscovered acting abilities, helped create something special.

Also, not being a classically trained filmmaker, Jesse can never thank his crew enough for their talents and experience. Without them, the stories about babies, and guillotines, and mimes, and drills, and ice cream, and blood, and vacuum cleaners, and small bits of bone, and forehead skin...would never have been told.

Jesse will be screening his films in a special presentation at FANTASM with special guest Michael Berryman!

The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work..."

To Promote Interest in Star Wars
While a growing number of people are experiencing a reawakening of their Star Wars fandom, new generations are seeking ways to celebrate their passion for George Lucas's modern mythology. The 501st Legion brings these fans together, reinforcing the enduring longevity of the Star Wars saga.

To Facilitate the Use of Costumes
Some fans are content to collect action figures...other fans want to be action figures. Nothing professes your passion quite like building your own detailed costume replica of a classic Star Wars villain, and there's nothing quite like the feeling that comes from bringing the characters of Star Wars into the real world and sharing the magic with others.

To Contribute
While our organization was founded to simply provide a collective identity for costuming fans with similar interests, the 501st is proud to put its resources to good use through fundraising, charity work, and volunteerism.

Roxy The Rancor
Replica:  (Full size, 700lbs Rancor Monster by Pizzazz Scenic)

Pizzazz Scenic created this full scale replica of the famous “RANCOR” beast from the Star Wars saga “Return of the Jedi” for the 501st Legion (a charitable organization) and Star Wars fans everywhere.

Affectionately known as “Roxy,” the 700-pound, 17-foot-long creation was painstakingly sculpted from nearly 2,000 cubic feet of expanded polystyrene foam from Imperial Foam of Ormond Beach, FL. Her skin hard coat is from Flex-A-Rock  TM Jax., FL.

A tremendous amount of time went into fabricating and scenically detailing the Rancor. The enormous size of the Rancor required careful, initial, planning with much consideration given to ease of onsite assembly, shipping and transportation issues.

Pizzazz Scenic is the first and only firm to fabricate a life sized “Rancor Beast”. Towering over 20ft tall when standing up, “Roxy” was the hit of the 2012 semiannual Star Wars Celebration held in Orlando. George Lucas personally met with the sculptors and autographed the monster.

Roxy lives in the warehouse of Pizzazz Scenic and when coaxed, travels with the 501st Legion to Star Wars events across the globe.
